It is also recommended for Europeans to use the online search system at KVK (Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog), in which all German and many European scholarly libraries list their available references. Sometimes the works are available for loan.
A list of further references about Australian art, which however are not yet in our reference collection, is also maintained and continually extended.

During the last decade Aboriginal painter Jimmy Pike has captured the Australian public imagination with his art. Inspired by his Walmajarri cultural heritage and his traditional country - the Great Sandy Desert in the far north of Western Australia - the artist has created a remarkable body of work that embraces the unique physial and spiritual essence of an area of extreme isolation. This publication presents an extensive overview of his creative achievements and traces the evolution of his inspiration. The publication also tells the story of the unique association between Jimmy Pike and Desert Designs throughout the last decade. Their collaborative relationship has resulted in the creation of a distinctive identity and established new parameters in contemporary design. Desert Designs' integrated philosophy, linking art, environment and culture, has created an international reputation for ist distinctive range of fashion and other products.
